Houston Open: Top 10 power rankings at CC of Houston
Brian Harman comes to the Lone Star state in solid form. The lefty has teed it up in three of four events so far in the 2019-2020 season, recording a T-3 at the Greenbrier, T-14 at the Sanderson Farms Championship and T-18 last week in Vegas.
Harman is seeking his first win since 2017 and the third of his career, but he’s had some high finishes in the interim. The former Georgia Bulldog finished T-8 at the Players Championship and had three more top-10s last season.
His strokes gained stats this season rank him 35th off the tee (.563), 28th approach (.717), 59th around the green (.096) and 11th in putting (1.269) to sit third overall (2.645). He’s one of the more accurate drivers (25th, 68.17%) on Tour but his iron play is much improved in a small sample size this season.
Golf Club of Houston has more sand than South Padre Island, and fortunately, Harman ranks 21st in sand saves (58.45%). For a short hitter, he’s a good long iron player ranking 23rd in approaches over 200 yards (46’3”).
The 32-year-old has made three of six cuts at the Houston Open with a T-52 in 2016 (67-74-74-72) his best result.
