CJ Cup: Top 10 power rankings at The Club at Nine Bridges
The Danny Willett redemption story continues. He’ll never give back the green jacket he won at the 2016 Masters, but with it came high expectations.
The pressure of newfound stardom seemed to break the Englishman who fell from a peak of ninth in the world rankings to 462nd midway through 2018.
He found some form last summer and went on to win the 60-man DP World Tour Championship in the European Tour season finale.
Again, a win preceded a drought before Willett got back on track again this summer.
A T-8 at the Canadian Open in June was one of four top-12s in a span of eight events worldwide. The highlight was a win at the European Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship.
Willett beat a world-class field in his native country and has since followed it up with more good showings against solid European fields
The 32-year-old was T-26 at the Alfred Dunhill Links and T-18 last week at the Italian Open.
Willett finished T-23 at last year’s CJ Cup (69-77-70-65) where he played as well as any on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
