If you thought Tiger, Rory, Hideki, and Jason were the only ones to compete in Japan prior to the Zozo Championship, think again.

Adam Scott assuredly received a hansom fee to appear at last week’s Japan Open Golf Championship where he finished T-5 and just three shots back.

That came against a pretty weak field, admittedly, but Scott’s got other recent results that stand up to the smell test.

The 39-year-old Aussie finished in the top-10 at all three FedEx Cup Playoffs events. He then opened his 2019-2020 PGA Tour season with a solid T-17 in his first appearance at the Safeway Open.

Despite going winless, the last Tour season was one of the best of Scott’s career statistically.

He was third in total strokes gained (1.731) thanks largely to his approach game (4th, .846) and short game (10th, .351).

Scott’s bugaboo is putting, particularly on the weekend, but he still was 31st in strokes gained (.348).

He was a runner up at Torrey Pines and Muirfield Village and is bound to find the winner’s circle soon for the first time since 2016.

Scott has won all over the globe, including in Asia in China, Singapore, and Qatar. Could Japan and the Zozo Championship be next?
