Zozo Championship: Top 10 power rankings at Accordia
Take a bow, Viktor. His PGA Tour record-breaking streak of 19 straight rounds in the 60s came to a close Saturday at the CJ Cup when he fired 74.
Time to take the Viktor Hovland machine in for repair.
Despite his hiccup, he bounced back for a Sunday 69 to finish T-31. I envision the 22-year-old continuing a new streak here at the Zozo Championship.
Last week’s result was his worst in an event since the Travelers Championship in June in his first pro event (where he still finished T54).
Hovland made his European Tour debut last month and finished T-11 at the flagship BMW PGA Championship.
To the chagrin of some golf fans, Hovland was forced to go to Korn Ferry Tour Finals to lock down his card for 2019-2020. He took care of business with finishes of T-11 and T-2 that allowed him to skip the third and final event
With that pressure behind him, he recorded a T-10 at the Greenbrier in the season opener.
The Norwegian has already done a lot since turning pro and looks to continue that at the Zozo Championship. Now it’s time to lock up a win. He gained 1.058 strokes off the tee last season and his ball-striking is as good as anybody at Narashino.
