WGC-HSBC Champions: Top 10 power rankings at Sheshan
No one has a lower score at the WGC-HSBC Champions over the last two years than Justin Rose. The Englishman won in 2017 (67-68-72-67) and contended last year in taking solo third place (69-67-70-72).
"“…if you can be brave off the tee on the par 5s, I feel like there’s quite a bit of an advantage to be had,” Rose said in 2018. “So you’re playing those holes well. I think that’s why guys like Dustin and Brooks and myself, we’ve played well on this golf course before because we drive the ball pretty well generally.”"
Rose isn’t known as a bomber, but he’s a player who’s successfully chased distance in recent years to keep up with how the game is trending toward power. He was 28th on the PGA Tour last season in driving distance (303.2).
Rosey continues to be one of the world’s most well-rounded players. He was 17th in SG putting (.504), 21st in SG approach (.525) and is above average off the tee and around the green.
This is the 39-year-old’s first start of the 2019-2020 PGA Tour season, although he’s been active on the European Tour. Highlighting three events were a T-15 a couple of weeks ago at the Italian Open and a solo eighth at the BMW PGA Championship.
Rose is coming to Sheshan for the sixth time. He’s finished T-48 or better each time and was T-11 back in 2011. It’s hard to believe it’s been since January since he’s won. I like that to change sooner rather than later.
