We are back with another round of picks, and here is who the folks on staff at PGN think is going to win this week’s PGA Tour event, the WGC-HSBC Champions at Sheshan in Shanghai.

It’s a little hard to believe, but none of us had Tiger Woods winning last week’s PGA Tour event. Okay, maybe it isn’t that hard to believe, as Tiger hasn’t given much reason for confidence whenever he is playing overseas in recent memory. Tiger isn’t playing the WGC-HSBC Champions event in Shanghai, so none of us have to worry about picking him this week.

We did have someone come close to picking the winner once again, as Hans Geevers had Hideki Matsuyama who finished second. A handful of us took Rory, and he ended up finishing third.

Can any of us pick the winner this week? We will start off with the same person that we started with last week, as a few of us here are going with the tournament favorite to win the WGC-HSBC Champions event.

Rory McIlroy

Richie Randolph – I will keep it simple and pick Rory McIlroy this week. The highest-ranked player in the field, Rory recovered from a 1st round 72 at the Zozo Championship to finish in 3rd place. Rory is out to prove he is the best player in the world and, while he needs some majors to challenge Brooks Koepka, McIlroy will continue to build his case with a win in Sheshan!

Kathy Bissell – He’s trending, and he is my pick this week.

Hans Geevers – My pick is Rory McIlroy. McIlroy arrives in China on the heels of a third-place finish at last week’s ZOZO Championship. Another positive for me was the fact that McIlroy has performed well at this event previously. An illustration of his previous quality play here was his fourth-place finish at this event in 2016.

Hideki Matsuyama

Kasey Kurhts – I will go with Hideki Matsuyama this weekend. I like Hideki not only because of his second-place finish last weekend, and his third-place finish earlier in October at the CJ Cup, but he won this event back in 2016 on the same course. He has been playing too well to not get an early-season win, and this is the perfect venue for him to do so!

Matt Wallace

Matt Coles – As always, I have to back a European at these major events! Going to go for Matt Wallace!

Tommy Fleetwood

Bill Felber – He finished seventh in this event last year so he’s comfortable on the course.

Tony Finau

Davey McWaters – I really like Tony Finau to pull through this week and get his 2nd PGA Tour win this week. He’s finished T-11 and solo 2nd in two starts and he has tremendous value in the eyes of Las Vegas at +2500.

Xander Schauffele

Eric Sedransk

Chris O’Day – Xander is coming off of a top ten finish at the Zozo, and he could’ve made a run at the top of the leaderboard with a better final round. He wouldn’t have caught Tiger, but a 3rd place finish would’ve been expected. Alas, a 72 dropped him to T-10th. I like him to get the W this week.

Adam Scott

West Valentine – The course in Shanghai is notoriously tough. It requires patience, not a bomber’s mentality. I think Adam Scott will play well and he’s my pick this week. I wanted to pick Rory. He’s playing well and looks to be on the cusp of winning. But I think Adam has the patience and game to grind out a victory.

Best of luck to all the picks this week!
