South African golfing stalwart Louis Oosthuizen is also a new entry into this week’s charts, but this is no newbie we are talking about, this is a major champion who is returning to home soil for the Nedbank Golf Challenge.

Oosthuizen won the Claret Jug in 2010, and has four other runner-up finishes in major championships, with at one 2nd place finish at each of the four.

The South African has also won eight other European Tour titles, with five of those coming on home soil. He lifted the Africa Open in both 2011 and 2012, the Volvo Golf Champions in 2013 and 2014, and the South African Open at the start of the 2019 season.

This will be Oosthuizen’s first appearance in a European Tour event since July, although he has also featured in the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational and the WGC-HSBC Champions since.

He finished 3rd in the latter, and the South African also has two other top ten results on the European Tour in 2019. He ended the Alfred Dunhill Championship in a tie for 7th, before finishing the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in 4th in early January.

Oosthuizen also finished T7 at the US Open in June and has shown glimpses of returning to his best in recent weeks.

The South African has finished in the top ten at the Nedbank in each of the past three years. Can he finally get his hands on that elusive trophy, and could it be a sixth European Tour title on home soil come Sunday afternoon?
