Scottie Scheffler continues to impress in the early stages of his PGA Tour career.

He fired 66-69-70-68 to finish T-18 last week at the Mayakoba Golf Classic. That was his fourth top-20 of the 2019-2020 season. The feat’s more impressive considering he wasn’t eligible for any of the three limited field events in Asia.

The former University of Texas standout posted a career best T-3 a few weeks back at the Bermuda Championship to go with a T-7 at A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier and a T-16 at the Sanderson Farms Championship.

The 23-year-old is making his RSM Classic debut. But has a lack of course history done much to slow him down before?

Not really.

Like so many young guns, Scheffler makes his hay with ball striking. He was 16th in driving distance (315.3) and 8th in driving accuracy (65.63%) last year on the Korn Ferry Tour. He finished first in the KFT regular season money list and finals.

He was also fifth in greens in regulation (74.62%) and putted well at 15th in putting average.

If the weather forecast is true and the wind is down, that’s all the more reason for a player like Scheffler to be able to break the mold and win at Sea Island.
