South African golfing stalwart Louis Oosthuizen currently sits in 9th on the Race to Dubai list, having moved up thanks to a solid performance on home soil at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in Sun City last week.

Oosthuizen came home in a tie for 6th at the Gary Player Country Club, missing out on a sixth title on home soil. His career has seen a major victory, as he won the Claret Jug in 2010, and he has four other runner-up finishes in major championships, with one 2nd place finish at each of the four.

The South African has also won eight other European Tour titles, with five of those coming on home soil. He lifted the Africa Open in both 2011 and 2012, the Volvo Golf Champions in 2013 and 2014, and the South African Open at the start of the 2019 season.

This will only be Oosthuizen’s second appearance in a European Tour event since July, although he has also featured in the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational and the WGC-HSBC Champions since.

He finished 3rd in the latter, and the South African also has two other top ten results on the European Tour in 2019. He ended the Alfred Dunhill Championship in a tie for 7th, before finishing the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in 4th in early January.

Oosthuizen also finished T7 at the US Open in June and has shown glimpses of returning to his best in recent weeks. Could the South African take what would be the second-biggest title of his career to date this week?

Since the inaugural DP World Tour Championship in 2009, he has finished in the top 20 five times, including three top-six finishes in Dubai. However, Oosthuizen is returning to the event for the first time since 2016.
