England’s Danny Willett is the reigning DP World Tour Championship winner, with the victory showing how far he had come after his plummet down the Official World Golf Rankings.

After winning the Masters in 2016, his maiden major victory, Willett suffered from a back injury, and by not making the required amount of starts in 2017, he lost his PGA TOUR card.

He then only made the cut in two of his first twelve tournaments in 2018 on the European Tour, and eventually dropped out of the world’s top 450 players. However, he was able to improve his form at the back end of the 2018 campaign, culminating in the victory at Jumeirah last November.

The Yorkshireman has kept that form going, and he now sits just outside the top 30 in the OWGR, thanks to winning the European Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship. It was his second Rolex Series win in less than twelve months.

He finished in a tie for 6th at the British Open Championship, and also finished inside the top 20 at both the U.S. Open and the Italian Open, as he made his way back into the top 30 in the world for the first time in nearly three years.

As well as winning the DP World Tour title in 2018, Willett also finished inside the top-five back in 2015, and he has also had top 30 results in Dubai on two other occasions. Could the Englishman go back-to-back at Jumeirah?
