Shane Lowry

Current Points: 3,613.8

Everyone knows about the fantastic showing Lowry put together at the British Open (or Open Championship if you prefer). He came out firing, shooting 67-67-63 before finishing with a 72 on a day where scoring well was nearly impossible.

It wasn’t his only win of the season though. Back in January, Lowry won the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, earning a solid 1,165 points, and getting his season started off on the right foot. Pair that with the 1,665 points from the Open Championship, and that alone was nearly enough to get Lowry into the top five.

Only two years ago, Lowry nearly won the DP World Tour Championship, as he finished in second place, one shot behind Jon Rahm. He also played well back in 2014 when he finished in 5th place.

His path is a little more difficult than the one for Rahm, as evidenced by the ~285 point difference. Here is how Shane Lowry can win the Race to Dubai.

If Wiesberger finishes T-2nd with two others or worse, and Lowry wins the DP World Tour Championship, then he will win the Race to Dubai as well.

Lowry can finish in second place on his own and still win. He would need Wiesberger to finish at least T-19th, with none of the other contenders winning the event.

Personally, I’m rooting for the Irishman. How can I not with the last name O’Day.
