Matthew Fitzpatrick is the last contender that can chase down Bernd Wiesberger and win the Race to Dubai.

He’s picked a great time to start playing fantastic golf and has been on fire during his last three tournaments. It started off at the Italian Open, where he finished in second place, one shot behind the current Race to Dubai leader, Bernd Wiesberger.

Just a few weeks ago, he managed a 7th place finish at the WGC-HSBC Champions. He started out hot with 66-67, but cooled off over the weekend and finished with 70-71.

Last week at the Nedbank Challenge, he finished in a T-10th place. He definitely needed this strong run, as he earned a combined 1235 points, vaulting him into the top five.

Fitzpatrick is still looking for his first win of the season, although he has been close multiple times. He has four solo second-place finishes on the year. The Honma Hong Kong Open, THe BMW International, the Scandanavian Invitation, and the previously mentioned Italian Open.

There is only one way the Fitzpatrick can win the Race to Dubai. He needs to secure that first win of the year, Tommy Fleetwood needs to finish T-2nd or worse, and Wiesberger needs to be at least T-4th with at least two other golfers.

For this to happen, the 25-year-old would have to win the DP World Tour Championship and would need Wiesberger to finish lower than tied fourth with one other, with Fleetwood finishing lower than solo second too.

Like Rahm and Lowry, Fitzpatrick is going to need a little help from the other contenders if he is going to take down the Race to Dubai Championship.
