RSM Classic: Sleeper Picks Who could make a run
Austin Cook (2017) +8000
Next up on the sleeper list is Austin Cook. He won the event back in 2017, where he managed the second-largest margin of victory at the RSM Classic, defeating J.J. Spaun by four strokes. He put together the second-best score at the tournament as well by shooting -21. Both records are held by Kevin Kisner, who is not on this list because his odds are too good when he won by six shooting -22 in 2015.
This has been the only event that Cook has won in his career. Not only that, but it is the only time in his career that he finished in the top three at any PGA Tour event. Why not pick Cook again to win the RSM Classic?
He has been pretty busy so far this year, playing in six events already. It has been a tale of two cities (that’s not right… two golfers? two… something I’m not clever enough to figure out) for Cook. He has missed the cut in four of six events. The two that he made the cut in? He finished T-14th at Greenbrier and T-17th at the Houston Open.
Cook will be looking to get back to his SG strengths from the 2018 PGA Tour season. He finished 51st around the green and 41st at putting. I like Cook to show up at the RSM Classic comfortable with the course, and make a run at becoming the first repeat champ.
