European Tour: 2019 AFRASIA BANK Mauritius Open Power Rankings
By Matt Coles
The 2019 season saw Edoardo Molinari, a former top 20 golfer, drop all the way down to 621st in the Official World Golf Rankings, after a run of eight missed cuts in ten events.
However, the Italian is back inside the top 325 in the world, and will be looking to further improve on that over the course of the 2020 European Tour season.
Edoardo, the older brother of 2018 British Open Champion Francesco, had three top 15 finishes during the 2019 period, including a T3 result at the BMW International Open in Germany.
The Italian also finished inside the top ten at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, one of the Rolex Series events on the European Tour, as well as a T14 placing at the D+D Real Czech Masters.
The 38-year-old is starting to find some form, having recorded two top-25 finishes in the latter part of the 2019 European Tour season.
He placed in a tie for 21st at the KLM Open in the Netherlands, before then finishing the Mutuactivos Open de Espana in a tie for 23rd. The experienced Italian could be a good bet for the trophy this week in Mauritius.
Molinari has also featured twice before at this event, with a best of T12 coming at the Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita back in 2016.
