The third South African golfer on ProGolfNow’s Power Rankings for the AFRASIA BANK Mauritius Open is Christiaan Bezuidenhout.

The 25-year-old had a breakthrough year on the European Tour in 2019, as he made the move from outside the top 500 to now sit in 89th in the Official World Golf Rankings.

The South African won his maiden European Tour title in July at the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucia Masters, coming home six shots clear of the chasing pack, which included the likes of Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia playing on home soil.

Bezuidenhout followed his first win with some more good results in the second half of the season, including a top-three finish at the European Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship.

The 25-year-old also came home inside the top 20 at the Omega European Masters, WGC-HSBC Champions and the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai just a few days ago.

Bezuidenhout has featured at this event twice before, finishing inside the top 15 when it was held at the Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita in 2018. His only previous experience of playing at Heritage saw him miss the cut at this event two years.

However, with five top-tens over the course of the 2019 campaign and a meteoric rise up the Official Golf World Rankings, expect Bezuidenhout’s form to continue at Heritage this week.
