This week, the European Tour presents the fantasy golf community with the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open! Let’s take a look at this tournament from a fantasy golf perspective!

Before I dive into my DraftKings fantasy golf player selections for the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, let’s take a look at the golf course the field will contend with this week, and my key statistics for this event.

The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open will be played at the Heritage Golf Club. The golf course is a par 71 that measures 6,986 yards. This track features very wide fairways and two par four holes that can be reached by many of the golfers in this field.

It should be noted that the course does feature deep rough. Having stated that, it will be imperative for golfers to hit these wide fairways on a consistent basis if they hope to be in contention on Sunday afternoon.

It should also be noted that the Heritage Golf Club has hosted this event two times previously in 2015 and 2017. For those fantasy golf players that evaluate previous course history, I would recommend that they only evaluate previous tournament data from the events played in 2015 and 2017.

One key note I should mention is that this golf course’s main defense is wind. I would highly recommend that DFS players look for golfers that can adapt to playing in high winds as they compile player pools for this event.

The key statistics I am focusing on for this tournament are driving accuracy, driving distance, strokes gained approach, and GIR (greens in regulation).

Now let’s shift gears to my DraftKings player selections for the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open!

George Coetzee $10,800

If you are looking for a “horse for the course” to fit a narrative, look no further, as you have found your guy: George Coetzee.

Coetzee has played the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open the two previous years that the event was played at the Heritage Golf Club, and he performed at a very high level on both occasions. Coetzee won the event in 2015. He then followed up his win with a ninth place finish at the tournament in 2017. Clearly, this man likes the Heritage Golf Club’s course!

Additionally, Coetzee arrives to Mauritius in very good form. Let’s take a look at a few of Coetzee’s recent quality tournament results. He finished 15th at the KLM Open in September, third at the Open de France in October, and finally he finished 24th in last week’s Alfred Dunhill Championship.

I should also mention that he won the Vodacom Origins of Golf Final in November. I did not include this win in the above mentioned results due to the fact the Vodacom is an event on the Sunshine Tour and is not affiliated with the European Tour. However, in my opinion, a win on the Sunshine Tour is still rather relevant when you are evaluating a golfer’s current form from a fantasy golf perspective.

I also like the following golfers to perform well this week:

Calum Hill $9,300

Calum played outstanding on the European Challenge Tour in 2019. He won the Euram Bank Open in July and the Made in Denmark Challenge in August. Hill earned his European Tour card and played in his first event of the new European Tour season last week. Calum finished 13th at last week’s Alfred Dunhill Championship.

Johannes Veerman $8,300

The 27 year old American has shown that he can perform at a high level on the European Tour. Veerman finished fourth at the Maybank Championship in March.  More recently, Johannes finished tied for seventh at last week’s Alfred Dunhill Championship.

Joel Sjoholm $7,400

Sjoholm finished runner up in last week’s Alfred Dunhill Championship.

Adrien Saddier $7,300

He arrives at this event in very good form. Saddier has two top eight finishes in his last four tournaments on the European Tour, including a fourth place finish at the Portugal Masters in October.

Rickie Fowler humbled to join 2019 Presidents Cup team. dark. Next

Keith Horne $6,900

The South African finished 13th at the 2015 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. Additionally, Horne finished 24th at last week’s Alfred Dunhill Championship.

As always, good luck this week!
