10. Rickie Fowler, 17th hole, TPC Sawgrass, 2015 Players Championship

It wasn’t so much the shot itself, a short iron seven feet from the flag at the island green capping his playoff win over Kevin Kisner and Sergio Garcia.

It wasn’t even the fact that Fowler won just days after publication of a poll of tour players rating him as the Tour’s Most Overrated.

What really stood out was the repeated and resolute way Fowler ritually abused the island hole at TPC Sawgrass, three times in the tournament’s closing hour birdieing the hole to come away with the victory.

Fowler trailed Garcia by five strokes with six holes to play on Sunday, but birdied the 13th and 15th, eagled the 16th and stiffed his approach at 17 for another birdie. He, Garcia and Kisner all finished in a deadlock at 12-under, necessitating the three-hole playoff.

In that playoff, Fowler (and Kisner) again birdied 17, eliminating Garcia and sending the surviving pair back to 17 for sudden death. Yet again, Fowler threw a short iron within four feet of the flag, and when Kisner failed to get close enough for his own birdie Fowler tapped home the winner.

Many termed it the most pulsating finish in the history of the Players Championship, and that opens up the day at #10 on the best golf shots of the decade.
