This week, the European Tour presents the Draftkings fantasy golf community with the Australian PGA Championship. Let’s take a look at this event from a fantasy golf perspective!

Before I dive into my Draftkings player selections for the 2019 Australian PGA Championship, let’s take a look at the golf course the field will play in Australia and look at the key statistics that I will be focusing on for this week’s tournament.

The Australian PGA Championship will be played at the RACV Royal Pines Resort course in Queensland, Australia. This course is a par 72 that measures 7,380 yards. This track features narrow fairways and contoured bermuda green complexes.

It should be noted that the Australian PGA Championship has been played at the Royal Pines Resort every year since the course’s debut hosting this event in 2013. In my opinion, an abundance of previous course history is always an asset from a DFS perspective as it assists me greatly in identifying golfers for my Draftkings lineups.

Based on my review of the previous tournament statistics of this event played at Royal Pines, it appears that a golfer’s ability to pound greens in regulation on a consistent basis and to scramble well around the greens is absolutely vital to success on the RACV Royal Pines Resort course.

Let’s shift our focus to my Draftkings player selections for the Australian PGA Championship!

Cameron Smith $11,200

Cameron Smith arrives in Queensland as the two time defending champion of this event. Smith has quite simply played outstanding at the Australian PGA Championship since the event began play at the RACV Royal Pines course in 2013.

Let me be more specific regarding Smith’s previous results at this tournament. Cameron Smith’s previous results at the Australian PGA Championship are:  2013-35th, 2014-ninth, 2015-fifth, 2016-15th, 2017-win, 2018-win. Clearly, those are some impressive results!

Last week, Smith competed as a member of the International team in the Presidents Cup. Although the International team lost the event, Smith played rather well. An illustration of Smith’s outstanding play at the Presidents Cup can be seen in his win over Justin Thomas in singles play on Sunday. Let’s not forget that Justin Thomas is currently the fourth ranked golfer in the world. Having stated that, Smith defeating Thomas is very impressive.

Now let’s take a quick look at Smith’s current form. Cameron finished 13th at the Shriners Hospitals For Children Open in September, third at the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges in October, and he finished 27th at the Emirates Australian Open earlier this month.

Brad Kennedy $9,700

The 45 year old Australian is currently a member of the Japan Golf Tour. Kennedy has five top eight finishes in his last seven tournaments on that Tour. Additionally, Kennedy finished 13th at the 2014 Australian PGA Championship.

Matthew Millar $8,300

The Australian finished third at the 2018 Australian PGA Championship. He arrives at this event on the heels of two consecutive top 15 finishes.

Darren Beck $7,200

Beck finished 21st at the Emirates Australian Open earlier this month.

Next. Is Patrick Reed ever going to be welcomed back to Team USA?. dark

Ben Eccles $7,100

He has made the cut in the last four Australian PGA Championships, including a sixth place finish in 2018.

As always, good luck!
