United States Ryder Cup Team of the Decade for the 2010’s

Jordan Spieth – 57% points won (3 appearances)
The first of the captain’s picks for the United States Ryder Cup Team of the Decade is one of the young breed of top quality American golfers, Jordan Spieth.
He first appeared at a Ryder Cup in 2014 and has been part of two of the most formidable partnerships the Americans have had in quite some time. In those three appearances against the Europeans, Spieth played all bar one fixture, tallying 14 matches out of a possible 15.
The first pairing came alongside Patrick Reed on debut, with the pair taking 2.5 points from their three matches together at Gleneagles. They defeated Stephen Gallacher and Ian Poulter 5&4 on Friday morning, before then dispatching the duo of Thomas Bjørn and Martin Kaymer 5&3 on Saturday.
They then halved their third match with Martin Kaymer and Justin Rose, before Spieth was eventually beaten for the first time in the singles, losing out to Graeme McDowell in the first match out on Sunday afternoon.
2016 saw the Reed/Spieth partnership resumed, and in some style, as they defeated the European power couple of Henrik Stenson and Justin Rose 3&2. They then halved with the Spanish duo of Rafa Cabrera Bello and Sergio Garcia on Saturday morning before beating Rose and Stenson again in the final pairs fixture of the weekend. In doing so, they became the first American pairing in the history of the Ryder Cup to play together in seven matches.
In 2018, Spieth teamed up with Justin Thomas to form another solid duo, defeating Paul Casey and Tyrrell Hatton in their first outing together on Friday morning in Paris. The pair then defeated Ian Poulter and Jon Rahm on Saturday morning, followed up by another win over Poulter that afternoon, this time playing alongside Rory McIlroy.
Spieth is still yet to win a singles match, having been beaten on all three Sundays so far, but as part of a team, the three-time major winner is dangerous. He finished the decade with eight points from his 14 matches, tallying to a 57% points ratio, but expect the young star to be around the team event for many years to come.
