Tony Finau – 67% points won (1 appearance)

Next comes Tony Finau, who made his debut at the most recent Ryder Cup at Le Golf National, Paris, where he was one of the brighter stars in the United States team.

Finau was the final pick that captan Jim Furyk announced, with the 29-year-old finding out he was featuring for his country just two weeks before flying to Paris to take on the hosts, Europe, for the first time in his career.

Showing no nerves, he was sent out to do a job in the first match of the weekend, and alongside World No.1 Brooks Koepka, the pair earned the States’ first point of the week, as they downed Justin Rose and Jon Rahm on the 18th hole.

Finau, who is the first PGA TOUR player of both Tongan and Amman descent, then played with Koepka again the next morning but found himself on the losing side as Sergio Garcia and Rory McIlroy were victorious, as Europe started to show their dominance.

When the draw came out for the singles on Sunday morning, Finau was also expected to lose, as he was drawn into the fifth match against Tommy Fleetwood, who had won all four of his pairs matches alongside Francesco Molinari.

However, Finau pulled out the most dominant display of the week, beating the Englishman 6&4 to mark down his second point of the week, as the Americans could only limp home to a 17.5-10.5 defeat.

Nevertheless, the American showed himself in the best possible light in Paris, and he will surely be a fixture of Ryder Cups in the 2020s. He has two points from three matches in his sole appearance in the event, giving him a 67% points ratio.
