Only Dustin Johnson (9) has made more Tournament of Champions starts than Matt Kuchar.

Kuch is making his eighth trip to Kapalua. He’s made a lot of money on the island, but his first win evades him.

He finished in the top-10 in 2010 (3rd), 2011 (T-6th), 2013 (T-9th) and 2014 (T-6th). His last appearance resulted in a T-19 where he shot par or better all four days, but three rounds in the 70s (72-73-72-69) won’t cut it around here.

I like him to get back into the groove at this event and shake off a disappointing run at the Presidents Cup (0-3-1). The Georgia Tech grad teed it up four times after the FedEx Cup Playoffs. He finished T-14th in his title defense at the Mayakoba Golf Classic for his best result.

The 41-year-old is finding it tougher to keep up off the tee (148th, 285.4 yards), but he’s still accurate (31st, 65.94%) and can use Kapalua’s tilted fairways to his advantage.

Kuchar was 43rd in strokes gained putting (.332). He’s played well in Hawaii and won the 2019 Sony Open. Waialae is a better fit for him next week, but he’s worth a spot in your DFS lineup this week, too.
