Tiger Woods: Tiger’s Top 10 Greatest Career Shots
2. 2000 Bell Canadian Open, 18th Hole, 2nd Shot
You could find many words to describe this shot, unbelievable is definitely one that springs to mind.
For basically any golfer this shot would not even be attempted, and if it was, would certainly not end in a good result. From a fairway bunker, over a huge water hazard from a long way out just sounds like a recipe for disaster.
Tiger still went for it and, in true Tiger Woods fashion, he pulled it off.
Nearly 20 years ago this happened. It had been a few years since Tiger Woods burst onto the scene, and he continued to hit incredible and dominating shots during the 2000 Bell Canadian Open.
At the Par-5 18th hole, Woods pushed his tee-shot into the fairway bunker on the right and faced a near-certain lay-up.
What happened next is history and is you could certainly make a case that this is the best shot the GOAT has ever hit.
It lead to his one-shot victory after a brilliant battle with Grant Waite down the stretch and a closing 65, marking his 24th victory in just 4 years on the PGA Tour.
When asked about the shot, Tiger simply replied:
“I hit it over the green, so it wasn’t really that good.”
