9. 2019 Masters, 16th hole tee shot

Capping off possibly the greatest comeback in sporting history, Tiger’s 2019 Masters triumph was a win for the ages.

After a decade in the wilderness, nobody really knew what to expect when Tiger returned to competitive golf. There were signs of the Old Tiger in some earlier tournaments but until his win at the 2018 Tour Championship, there were doubts whether he would ever win again.

Any doubts about Tiger were officially squashed at Augusta in 2019.

In one of the most exciting final rounds in recent history, Woods entered Amen Corner still two shots behind leader, Francesco Molinari. As the leaders traded birdies and bogies across the second nine, at 1:30 pm there was still a five-way tie for the lead.

Dustin Johnson, Xander Schauffele, Brooks Koepka, Francesco Molinari and of course, Tiger were all tied at 12-under with the final pairing on the 15th tee box. Johnson, Schauffele and Koepka all remained at that number and put the pressure on Woods and Molinari to beat that over the inward stretch.

A massive birdie for Tiger at 15 gave him the outright lead heading to 16, and every golf fan started to realise the enormity of what was happening. Tiger was leading the Masters, with three holes to play and nobody really left to catch him after Molinari stumbled at 15.

Then came the dagger.

This tee shot at 16, under all that pressure, with the swarms of people lining the hole and Tiger does what Tiger does best. This was the moment that sealed the comeback and stamped his claims as the greatest golfer of all-time.
