4. 2012 Memorial Tournament, 16th Hole, second shot

Having won the Memorial Tournament five times, its fair to say Tiger loves playing at Muirfield Village.

Since winning his first title at Jack’s Place in 1999, Woods has provided some magical moments and a handful of triumphant victories. This was evidenced by No.10 on this list and now this shot, a decent highlight reel for just one tournament.

After a three-year absence from the winner’s circle, Tiger broke through in 2012 with a victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March with a commanding 5-stroke victory. Three months later he would find himself in the thick of the action again at the Memorial Tournament.

Trailing by four-shots entering the final round, Tiger tore apart Muirfield Village on Sunday, posting five birdies through the first 15 holes. Late in the day, he was trailing Rory Sabbatini by just one as he came to the 16th hole.

Missing the green long, Tiger left himself with a treacherous pitch shot going down the hill from a poor lie, straight towards the water behind the flag. Any of us regular golfers would need a new pair of pants when facing this shot, daunting and near impossible for most.

So Tiger Woods just casually does what Tiger Woods does best.

Jack Nicklaus claimed that “I don’t think under the circumstances I’ve ever seen a better shot.” The birdie tied the lead, followed by a birdie on 18 and a 2-shot win that marked No.73 over his career.

The shot was nothing short of extraordinary and comfortably one of the greatest shots you will see in the crunch period of a tournament.
