One year before the start of this decade Tiger Woods crashed his SUV into a tree, and his career was never the same. Now the decade is almost over and he is the reigning Masters champion and has even reworked his public persona.
This was not the decade that defined Tiger Woods’ career, but it was the decade that helped redefine it. It will be the decade known for his historic come back to the top of the golf mountain top where he stood for so long before.
In the 2010’s Tiger Woods actually looked normal for once, and it showed that even the greatest athletes are mortal. For so long he was a golf machine that could not be stopped, but sometimes the mighty fall the hardest.
Not only did he have a mental problem with his game this decade, but a ton of his issues were also physical as well. His list of injuries this decade ranges from Achilles and knee issues in 2011 and 2012, to four back surgeries from 2014 to 2017, including spinal fusion to alleviate pain in both his back and leg.
But his enormous fall from grace, only leads to an even greater comeback, that at one point during his recovery from an injury he did not even see coming. It was a decade that saw Tiger go from a feared competitor, to washed up and done, then back to winning majors and acting as the ambassador of golf to the game’s younger stars at the Presidents Cup.
