Coming in at No.1 on the ProGolfNow South African Open Power Rankings is the defending champion of the event, Louis Oosthuizen.

The fourth and final South African on our list is also the highest placed golfer on the Official World Golf Rankings, as he sits inside the top 20 in the world at this point in time, having moved back into that bracket following a 2nd place finish at the Emirates Australian Open on the PGA TOUR Australasia before Christmas.

For the majority of the 2019 season, Oosthuizen featured on the PGA TOUR, and once again, he was a threat during the major season, finishing in a tie for 7th at the U.S. Open, along with a top 20 finish at the 148th British Open Championship at Royal Portrush.

Although he failed to snatch a victory in 2019, the South African did come home with top-five finishes at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championships, Valspar Championship, WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play and the WGC-HSBC Champions.

He also finished inside the top 20 at both the Nedbank Golf Challenge on home soil, and the DP World Tour Championship, the season-ending tournament in Dubai.

Oosthuizen won this event twelve months ago, the most recent victory of his career, and he will be looking to become the 19th different multiple-winner of the event in its 117-year history. Could this be Louis’s week once again?
