After spending several years on the Challenge Tour, Dutchman Wil Besseling is back on the European Tour for the 2020 campaign, and he currently sits inside the top 10 on the Race to Dubai leaderboard.

Besseling finished the Alfred Dunhill Championship, the season-opening event, in a tie for 3rd spot, and with that result, he currently holds 7th spot in the Race to Dubai standings, along with two others.

The Dutchman’s last full season on the European Tour came back in 2009, but after almost a decade of playing on the Challenge Tour, he seems to be back near his best.

With that result at the Alfred Dunhill Championship in early December, Besseling made the move back inside the top 300 in the Official World Golf Rankings, having been 731st in the summer of 2018, a remarkable rise for the 34-year-old.

Besseling has two more top-ten finishes in his last six events, with one of those also coming on the European Tour, as he was given a national spot for the KLM Open, held in the Netherlands, and it was an opportunity he took, finishing in T7.

Although he is yet to win on the European Tour, he will be buoyed by his performance in South African five weeks ago, and he will be hoping for another such run at the title in the same country this week.
