Byeong Hun An is quietly having himself a nice start to his 2019-2020 season.

The 28-year-old South Korean finished solo third at the Sanderson Farms Championship, T-6 at the CJ Cup, T-8 at the Zozo Championship and T-14 at the WGC-HSBC Champions. His trip home to Asia earned himself quite a bit of coin.

An’s won big on the European Tour (2015 BMW PGA) and has come close to claiming his first PGA Tour title. He was solo third at the 2019 Wyndham Championship and has three career co-runner up finishes. Two came in 2018.

No one was better around the greens (.631 strokes gained) last season. He got up and down out of the sand 58.52% of the time (19th).

An was also seventh in SG tee to green (1.402) and can hit it a long way (307.1 yards, 15th). That’s a big advantage at PGA West and La Quinta.

He ranked 14th in proximity from 150-175 yards (24’10”) and 12th from 175-200 (29’11”).

Putting (-.583 SG) is his weakness, but the greens at PGA West and La Quinta aren’t overly demanding.

Despite this being An’s debut at The American Express, I envision three or four rounds in the 60s.
