Continuing on with our weekly tradition, here are the staff picks to win The American Express.

Next up on the PGA Tour is the newly named American Express tournament. The event has a long and storied history, and you likely know it by one of its previous names.

We broke our streak of picking winners last week at the Sony Open, as none of us had Cameron Smith. A couple of us, Matt and myself, were able to bring you Webb Simpson, who finished very strongly to secure third place. Not too shabby.

Although there are some huge names over on the European Tour at the HSBC Championship in Abu Dhabi, there are still some big names teeing off in the states this week as the PGA Tour kicks off its West Coast swing.

This week’s event is no longer five rounds, and there aren’t as many high profile celebrities anymore. It is still going to be a great golf weekend, and there are a bunch of strong candidates to get a win early on in 2020. Let’s check out the picks this week from the crew at Pro Golf Now, as we have a wide variety of submissions this week to win the American Express.

Kevin Kisner

West Valentine – I’m going with the human birdie machine, Kevin Kisner.

Jordan Perez – There is lots of momentum to build upon from last week, so Kisner is the pick.

Abraham Ancer

Corey Klatt

Matthew Wolff

Eric Sedransk

Tony Finau

Matt Coles

Matthew Wolff

Kasey Kuhrts – As the field doesn’t feature many big names this weekend, I think Matthew has as good as a chance as anyone to win this weekend.

Rickie Fowler

Bill Felber – He’s a prominent name in a weak field, and he has a good desert track records. Plus, like the rest of the world, I just like him.

Charles Howell III

Hans Geevers – He has a quality record at this tournament. There is no doubt in my mind that Howell III can win this week.

Connor Schmidtke

Richie Randolph

Sungjae Im

Chris O’Day – Sungjae Im is another one of the young class of golfers that is taking the PGA Tour, and the golfing world in general, by storm. He is still searching for his first PGA Tour win, and I like him to get it this week at the American Express. 18th in SG off the tee, 25th on approach, and 14th at putting. It will come down to his short game, as he is a dreadful 223rd in SG. A decent short game this week, and Im should have a strong chance at the winner’s circle.

Mike Randleman – An excerpt from the weekly power rankings about Sungjae Im, the pick for this week.

“Im looked good in his 2019 American Express debut. Rounds of 71-65-64-71 netted him T-12. He gained .799 strokes putting while hitting over 66% fairways and greens.’

‘Now that he’s making his second appearance at PGA Tour courses, I like him to use his course knowledge to turn those top-25s into top-10s, top-10s into title contentions.”

Best of luck to everyone this week in their picks for the American Express.
