Jon Rahm closed the decade in style. Right before the New Year, the big Spaniard rattled off two European Tour wins and a runner-up at the Hero World Challenge.

He’s finished T-13 or better in 14 straight events going back to last summer. Rahm’s consistency is something to behold from the 25-year-old.

Rahm will be slightly rusty compared to the field, many of which played at least once in the last two weeks, but I’m not too concerned.

Course history is on his side. Rahm won his Farmers Insurance Open debut in 2017 with an eagle on the par-5 18th that ultimately proved to be the winning putt. Rounds of 72-68-69-65 gave him the one-shot victory.

He was in contention going into the weekend and finished T-29 ( 68-66-75-77) in 2018. Rahm fired the low round of the 2019 tournament when he shot an opening 62 on the North Course. On the South, he shot 72-68-72 to finish T-5.

Rahm’s length is a huge asset this week. He was fifth on Tour last season in strokes gained off the tee (.692). He was also 34th in SG approach (.405) and 36th in SG putting (.336) en route to placing eighth in total SG (1.505).

He’s 23rd in par-5 scoring (4.54). Resiliency is important at a tough place like Torrey Pines. While we know Rahm to be a fiery competitor, he finished fourth in bounce back percentage (28.3%).
