In Bryson DeChambeau like fashion, I took a significant amount of time debating this selection. Ultimately, I decided he’s too talented to be left out of this week’s top 10.

The five-time PGA Tour winner is coming off a solid showing last week where he finished T-8 at the European Tour’s Dubai Desert Classic while battling an illness. Stateside in the 2019-2020 PGA Tour season, he’s got a T-13 at the Safeway Open and T-4 in Las Vegas.

What’s keeping me from pushing him up higher in the rankings is possible jet lag as he spent two weeks in the UAE. Also, this will be DeChambeau’s Phoenix Open debut. I’m interested to see how golf’s rowdiest fans treat him.

Stylistically, TPC Scottsdale seems to suit his game well. He ranked 34th on Tour last year in driving distance (302.5) and 66th in driving accuracy (65.02%). The 26-year-old knows how to take it low (17th in birdies, 4.17) and should be able to eat up the three par-5s and drivable par-4 17th. He was 12th in par-5 scoring (4.52).

DeChambeau was among the players who were lambasted for taking appearance fees to compete in the inaugural Saudi International in 2019 on the European Tour. It’s nice to see him come back to the U.S. to support one of the Tour’s more unique and historic events.
