European Tour Power Rankings: Saudi International
By Matt Coles
After winning the Omega Dubai Desert Classic on Sunday, Lucas Herbert made his way up a number of different leaderboards, including our Power Rankings, with the Australian sitting in 3rd spot for the Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers.
Sunday’s victory, which came on Australia Day, was his maiden win on the European Tour, as he got the better of Christiaan Bezuidenhout on the second extra hole of a playoff at Emirates GC.
The Australian now sits in 2nd on the Race to Dubai leaderboard, behind only Lee Westwood, and he has moved back into the top 100 on the Official World Golf Rankings, sitting just shy of his career-best ranking at World No.79, having moved up 144 places following the victory.
Herbert had not been in the best form coming into the Omega Dubai Desert Classic last week, with just two top-ten finishes across the entirety of 2019, including one at the very same event.
He came home in T7 at the 2019 Omega Dubai Desert Classic, before finishing in a tie for 8th at the Omega European Masters in September.
After a maiden European Tour victory, could the Australian go back-to-back and win at Royal Greens Golf and Country Club come Sunday?
