The California kid is feeling right at home during this West Coast swing. The former Cal Golden Bear seeks his third straight top-10 after recording a T-9 at the Farmers Insurance Open (73-68-71-67) and a T-6 at the Phoenix Open (72-67-64-68).

It appears that getting off to a faster start is what’s keeping the 29-year-old from notching his second career win. The former collegiate All-American broke through for his maiden victory in 2019 at Quail Hollow.

He’s been refreshingly candid on his early struggles as a pro and is one of the easier players to root for on Tour with his fun Twitter presence. Homa seems more carefree on the course after the win. It’s a lot easier to focus when you’re not worrying every day about your status inside the top 125.

Homa’s made four of five cuts in the 2019-2020 season. On the Japan Tour, Homa finished T-5 this winter at the Dunlop Phoenix where he tied or beat big names like Collin Morikawa, Cameron Champ, Gary Woodland, etc.

Homa’s playing the Pebble Beach Pro-Am for the fifth time. His best result came last year with a T-10 (73-69-68-67). His experience on poa greens paid off as he gained 1.114 strokes putting, including 4.648 in the final round.

His strength comes off the tee as he was 49th in distance (300.2 yards). He’ll have to lay back this week, though playing more from the fairway could be good. He finished 139th in greens hit last year (65.14%).
