The third Australian on our Power Rankings for the ISPS Handa Vic Open is Wade Ormsby, who already has a victory in 2020.

The World No.151 secured the win at the Hong Kong Open, the tournament which was taken off the European Tour’s schedule following the social unrest in the area, in his first outing of the new year.

The event, which was sanctioned by the Asian Tour, was won by Ormsby, who carded nothing higher than a 66 across the entire week, finishing four shots clear of Irishman Shane Lowry.

That result came three weeks after he finished in a tie for 3rd at the other European Tour event held on Australian soil so far this season, the Australian PGA Championship. Over the course of the 2019 calendar year, Ormsby had seven other top 20 finishes, including three top ten results.

The Australian started the year with a runners-up finish at this every event, as he lost out by a single stroke to the eventual winner, David Law. He then followed that up with a T20 finish at the ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth a week later, before a T14 result at the Trophee Hassan II in April.

Ormsby had back-to-back top-ten finishes on the European Tour in the summer, coming home in a tie for 5th at the Scandinavian Invitation, before finishing in T8 at the Omega European Masters a week later.

With a good run of form, including a victory just four weeks ago, plus a runners-up finish at the Handa Vic last year, could Ormsby continue that and take another win this time around?
