Like several of the other members on this week’s Power Rankings, Sweden’s Joel Sjöholm has featured sparingly on the European Tour so far this season.

The Swede has only played in three events so far after coming home inside the top 25 at the Challenge Tour Grand Final in November, but from those results, he does currently hold 16th spot on the Race to Dubai leaderboard.

Sjöholm came home in 2nd place at the season-opening Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa, with the majority of his Race to Dubai points coming from that result. It also moved him inside the top 260 in the Official World Golf Rankings for the first time since 2012.

A week later at the AFRASIA BANK Mauritius Open, the Swede came home in a tie for 26th, adding to his points tally, and he sat inside the top ten on the leaderboard until just a couple of weeks ago, having not played since featuring at the South African Open hosted by the City of Johannesburg in early January.

Sjöholm only has one victory since turning professional, but that came nearly three years ago at the Italian Challenge Open by Lyoness, a tournament on the Challenge Tour. Could this be the week the Swede breaks through to take a maiden European Tour win?
