Dustin Johnson has made so much money in Los Angeles, an A-list movie star would be jealous. The 35-year-old blitzed the field by five in 2017 (66-66-64-71) to kick off what was three straight wins that year.

"“To finally get a win at the Genesis Open feels good because I’ve finished second here a couple times, lost in a playoff, felt like I should have won a couple other times,” Johnson said, as transcribed by Tee Scripts. “It’s definitely nice to win on a golf course that I really enjoy playing and a golf tournament I really enjoy playing.”"

In 12 career starts at the Genesis Invitational, DJ has just two missed cuts and eight top-10s (six top-fives). He hasn’t finished worse than T-16 since 2013, and has played this event every year since 2008.

He was two back in second in 2014. James Hahn beat Johnson and Paul Casey in a playoff in 2015.

Johnson currently isn’t playing the world beating golf we’re used to. The results are still solid.

He took solo second against a good field on the European Tour at the Saudi International a few weeks back. He then made his fourth straight cut on the PGA Tour, as well as 17th of his last 18, with a T-32 last week at Pebble Beach.

Johnson ranked fourth last season on Tour in strokes gained off the tee (.703) and was top-75 in every category. He always eats up the par-5s and drivable par-4s. Johnson was 23rd in par-5 scoring in 2018-19 at 4.54.

If you’ve been bearish on Johnson lately, this is a good time to reverse course and ride Johnson at one of his more favorable events.
