WGC-Mexico: Top 10 power rankings at Chapultepec
It’s been some time since Bryson DeChambeau has come down to the final holes with a chance at a win. Yet, it seems like he’s not far off.
DeChambeau was under par all four days last week to claim T-5 against a strong field at Riviera (68-70-69-69). That’s his second top-five of the young 2019-2020 PGA Tour season (T-4, Shriners). He also has a T-8 on the European Tour at the Dubai Desert Classic.
DeChambeau has made four of five PGA Tour cuts this season.
He’s making his second trip to the WGC-Mexico after finishing T-56 in 2019 (75-73-73-69).
The SMU alum is eighth on Tour in strokes gained off the tee (.725) and is in the positive in all SG categories. His offseason bulking appears to be paying dividends. DeChambeau is fifth in driving distance (314.5).
Bunker play is important at this event. The 26-year-old is third in sand saves (70.59%).
DeChambeau is seeking his first worldwide win since 2018. World Golf Championships can be throw away events for big stars. I like him to have his full attention on getting over the hump this week and vanquishing a course that gave him trouble in 2019.
