I’m running out of things to say about Xander Schauffele. I feel like a broken record reporting that, yet again, he posted another solid result.

The X Man posted his third top-25 in four starts in 2020. He contended in his title defense at the Tournament of Champions (T-2) and played well at the Phoenix Open (T-16).

Schauffele also finished solo second this season at the WGC-HSBC Champions and was T-10 at the Zozo Championship.

The 26-year-old Californian is looking to take the next step at the WGC-Mexico. He finished T-18 in 2018 (65-68-70-74) and T-14 in 2019 (69-73-66-69).

"“It’s kind of a grind mentally just walking around up hills in the altitude and whatnot,” Schauffele said in 2018 in a transcript from Tee Scripts, “so to keep a bogey-free card is always nice.”"

Schauffele ranks second on Tour in strokes gained off the tee (.971). He’s also 38th in SG approach (.454) and 18th in SG around the green (.49). The putter just needs to come around for him to get back in the winner’s circle.

The former San Diego State Aztec tends to play well in these limited field events: Tournament of Champions, Tour Championship, WGC-HSBC Champions.
