Louis Oosthuizen hasn’t played a whole lot in 2020, especially on the PGA Tour. Don’t let that dissuade you from picking one of the game’s best ball-strikers this week.

The South African hasn’t missed a cut worldwide since the Arnold Palmer Invitational last March. Not bad for a guy who is knocked for a lack of consistency.

Going back to the fall, Oosthuizen owns a solo third at the WGC-HSBC Champions, three top-sixes on the European Tour (including a runner up) and solo second against a solid field at the Australian Open.

He shook off some rust after three weeks off last week at the WGC-Mexico, where he finished T-51. A Saturday 76 spoiled what was otherwise a solid tournament with three rounds of par or better. Oosthuizen had a fantastic putting week, gaining 2.218 strokes on the greens.

Can you believe King Louis has never won in the US? Me neither.

This is a good chance for the 37-year-old to end the drought. He had to withdraw from the Honda Classic in back to back years in 2011 and 2012. He MC’d in 2013 before cracking the code in 2017 with four rounds of par or better en route to T-21 (70-70-68-69).

He earned another good payday in 2018 with a T-24 (67-72-69-75).

Oosthuizen ranked 24th on Tour in sand saves (58.12%) last season. He’s good with the long irons, too, finishing 23rd in approaches from 175-200 (30’11”). He was top 50 from 200-plus.
