Brooks Koepka passed up the WGC-Mexico last week to prep for his home tournament. The Jupiter, Florida, resident and West Palm Beach native also took the time to rest his knee. He recently admitted that injury was a bigger deal for him last season than he originally let on.

A less than 100% Koepka is still a formidable player. But, given his apathy for the regular season, it’s ultra-tough to predict how well he’ll play this week.

This is BK’s sixth trip to the Honda Classic. His best tournament result came last year when he finished T-2 just a shot behind Keith Mitchell.

It was Koepka’s fourth made cut, though the other three are no better than T-26.

Koepka’s teed it up three times in 2020. He finished T-3 and T-17 in the Middle East playing on the European Tour. Koepka pulled in a T-43 two weeks ago in his last start at the Genesis Invitational.

The 29-year-old has yet to win in his home state. That said, Florida courses seem to suit his game well.

"“I enjoy it here. I enjoy it in Florida,” Koepka said in 2019, per ASAP Sports. “It’s a lot more comfortable on the greens this first couple starts of the year. The greens are a bit interesting in Hawai’i. I struggle on poa. Especially fast, slopey poa like last week (in Mexico), I don’t play my best, but it’ll be nice to get on some Bermuda and really roll the rock."

PGA National isn’t quite a perfect fit, but I like him to hold up in blustery conditions.

Koepka has thrived at tough venues. He ranked 11th on Tour last season in strokes gained approach (.636), 22nd in sand saves (58.43%) and first in par-4 scoring (3.95).

Give me Koepka to put in a good week and begin his ramp up toward Augusta. He’s now slipped to world No. 3 and will have some motivation on his side.
