Arnold Palmer Invitational: Top 10 power rankings at Bay Hill
Despite going winless in 2018-19, Adam Scott played some of his best golf in the last PGA Tour season. The hard work paid off quickly in the 2019-2020 campaign as the Aussie won last month at the Genesis Invitational. He won by two and held off one of the best fields of the year.
Scott also was a winner late in 2019 at the Australian PGA Championship.
He’s assuredly got his eye on going for a second green jacket next month at the Masters. Scott’s kept his pre-Augusta schedule light up until now, as he’s teed it up just twice in 2020.
He finished T-26 at the WGC-Mexico the week after Riviera.
Scott’s making his 10th start at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He’s made seven cuts and has finished T-41 all seven times. Scott’s high water mark was a share of third place in 2004 and solo third a decade later. He tied the course record in 2014 with a 10-under 62 in round one.
That year was his first visit to Bay Hill in five years.
"“I feel like this course sets up well for me to take advantage with the par‑5s, and a few other holes demand the strengths of my game, driving and stuff like that,” Scott said in 2014 in a transcript by ASAP Sports."
Scott’s weakness this year has been off the tee, but you can get away with occasional waywardness at Bay Hill. Approach game and putting are key, and he’s been solid in these categories, ranking 23rd (.536) and 49th (.410) in strokes gained, respectively.
Scott is also 24th in sand saves (59.38%).
