The Arnold Palmer Invitational has got to be one of Marc Leishman’s favorite Tour stops. He’s fattened his wallet here, and particularly as of late.

The Aussie won the 2017 API and has four straight top-25 finishes at Bay Hill. Leishman fired four rounds under par (71-66-71-69, -11) to edge Charley Hoffman and Kevin Kisner by one in ‘17.

Leishman shot par or better (72-70-72-70) all four rounds in 2019, but just couldn’t get enough momentum to contend, finishing T-23. In total, the 36-year-old has made 10 starts in as many years. He’s missed just two cuts and has fared T-48 or better each time he made the weekend. Leishman’s other top-10s came in 2011 (T-3) and 2018 (T-7).

Big Leish was a winner this season at the Farmers Insurance Open. He’s also 4-for-4 in cuts made. Leishman is coming into the API off of a week of rest, just like he was at the Farmers.

The 36-year-old is sixth on Tour in strokes gained approach (1.088). He’s outside the top-100 in SG around the green and SG putting, something that’s never happened in either category in five years.

Leishman ranks second in proximity from 225-250 yards (34’3”) and is 46th (38’1”) from 200-225.

If he can shave just a few more shots, he’ll really be on to something in 2020. The Arnold Palmer Invitational is the perfect jump start before Augusta, another place Leishman favors.
