Coming in at No.1 on ProGolfNow’s Power Rankings for the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters this week is former Ryder Cup star, Ross Fisher.

He currently sits at No.170 in the world, thanks to three top-ten finishes in the early part of the 2020 European Tour campaign.

The Englishman came home in a tie for 6th at both the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship presented by EGA and the Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers. This followed on from a solid performance in his last outing of the 2019 season, where he finished inside the top ten at the Turkish Airlines Open. He then continued that with a T10 result in Oman last time out.

Fisher had suffered a steady fall down the rankings over the course of the 2019 season, as he started the campaign inside the top 75 in the world, before falling out of the top 200.

His performance at the Turkish Airlines Open, followed by those two top tens, has moved him back inside the top 170.

Fisher had several top 20 results over the course of the 2019 season, but it was also marred with missed cuts. However, T13 at the Saudi International and the Maybank Championship, T15 at the Betfred British Masters and T17 at the Mutuactivos Open de Espana will all give the Englishman confidence going into the 2020 season.

Fisher could be a dark horse to watch for this week, as the former World No.170 aims to boost himself back up the OWGR list as the year progresses.
