Jon Rahm made himself a lot of money on the West Coast. Now, it’s time to make some hay in Florida.

The Spaniard is making his first start since the WGC-Mexico a few weeks ago. He contended there en route to a T-3, his eighth straight result of T-17 or better.

That span features a couple of European Tour wins and a runner up at the Hero World Challenge to close 2019. He again was in the mix for solo second at Torrey Pines, T-9 at TPC Scottsdale and T-17 at Riviera.

Rahm could afford to have a few more PGA Tour wins under his belt, but he brings it each and every week. His last missed cut in the US was last May.

The 25-year-old is 3-for-3 in cuts made at the Players Championship. He struggled after making the cut in 2017 and 2018 but was in the mix last year.

Rahm shot 69-68-64 to take the 54-hole lead. His Saturday score matched the low round of the tournament and was one shy of tying the TPC Sawgrass course record. A 76 on Sunday dropped him to T-12.

It was a tough scene, but he still showed that this is another event he can thrive at. The move to March certainly helps a bomber like him.

"“I think the fairways hold up a little bit more. The greens are not as bouncy even though they’re getting firm,” Rahm said in 2019 in a transcript from ASAP Sports of the tournament’s move from May. “It’s just a little bit easier for me to read the grain on the chips and understand what it’s going to do, so I’m just a little bit more comfortable. The course playing a little longer, it just plays to my strengths, especially if I’m hitting as good as I am with the irons.”"

Rahm ranks fourth on Tour in strokes gained putting (.996) and is 13th in SG tee to green (1.227). If he can keep his emotions in check at a diabolical course like TPC Sawgrass, he’ll be back in contention once again.
