This week, the PGA Tour presents the fantasy golf community with The Players Championship.

Before I discuss my fantasy golf/Draftkings player picks let’s take a look at the golf course the field will play along with a few courses that correlate with this week’s track and review the statistics that I feel are the most important for a golfer’s success this week!

The 2020 Players will be played at the TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course is a Pete Dye design. The course is a par 72 that measures 7,189 yards. Water hazards are in play on 14 holes. This course also has one of the most famed holes in all of golf: the par-three 17th hole which features the island green. The field will also have to contend with 88 sand traps that are strategically placed.

For research purposes, other Pete Dye designed courses that are currently featured on the PGA Tour schedule:

  • TPC River Highlands-The Travelers Championship
  • TPC Louisiana-Zurich Classic of New Orleans
  • Harbour Town Golf Links-RBC Heritage

In my opinion, the key statistics that are the most vital to a golfer’s success this week are strokes gained tee to green, strokes gained around the green, par four scoring, and GIR (greens in regulation).

Here are my fantasy golf/Draftkings player selections for the 2020 Players!

Gary Woodland $8,300

The 2019 United States Open Champion arrives at this week’s event in very good form. More specifically, Woodland has two consecutive top 12 finishes on the PGA Tour, including an eighth-place finish at the Honda Classic in February.

Woodland also checks the box for me when it comes to key statistics. He currently ranks 21st in strokes gained tee to green (1.014), sixth in greens in regulation (72.59%), and sixth in actual scoring average (69.13) on the PGA Tour.

It should also be noted that Woodland finished 28th at the 2016 edition of The Players.

Rory McIlroy $11,700

The current number one golfer in the world has seven consecutive top-five finishes on the PGA Tour. McIlroy also won the Players in 2019.

Bryson DeChambeau $9,100

The 26-year-old American finished fourth at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last week. DeChambeau is currently ranked tenth in strokes gained tee to green (1.424) on the PGA Tour.

Byeong Hun An $7,800

An finished fourth at the Honda Classic in February. He also finished 26th at The Players last year.

Danny Lee $6,700

He has two top 25 finishes in his last four tournaments, including a fifth-place result at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last week. Additionally, Lee finished seventh at the 2018 edition of The Players.

Russell Henley $6,400

Henley arrives at this week’s event on the heels of two consecutive top 17 finishes, including an eighth place finish at the Honda Classic last month.
