2011 – Charl Schwartzel

The final round of the 2011 Masters was perhaps the wildest in memory. Eight different players held a share of the lead at one point or another on Sunday, a group that included Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

But as the final round came to an end, it was Charl Schwartzel who rallied past the best players in the world by recording birdies on his final four holes. Schwartzel’s 6-under par 66 was enough to hold off Jason Day and Adam Scott by two shots. Ironically, Schwartzel’s win came exactly 50 years after Gary Player, a fellow South African, became the first international winner of the Masters.
