The PGA Tour announced earlier today that they would be returning to play in the middle of June, albeit to a modified schedule.

This is fantastic news, as I know there are plenty of us that have been missing golf. A quick note about the PGA Tour returning is that all of the events are still pending approval by local health and state regulations. If those pass, then the schedule will go as currently planned by the PGA.

It’s going to start off in June at the Charles Schwab in Texas. It’s going to look a bit different, with the majors coming in different dates.

As of now, it looks like the PGA Championship is going to be held on August 6th. Next up, is the U.S. Open on September 17th. Finally, the Masters is set to be held in November.

It’s going to be a bit confusing, as the Tour Championship is still going to be held on September 4th. The season is going to “end” with the Tour Championship, but there are still going to be events for the season held after it when it comes to the Majors.

It’s going to be a bit crazy, but it also means that we are potentially going to see seven majors happen in a period of 12 months or less. It’s going to be tough for those organizing it and the players who are taking part, but it is going to be fantastic for all of us fans to see that much high-level golf in that short of a time frame.

For those of you who are in the areas that the first four events are going to be held, you are going to be in the same viewing situation as the rest of the country. As of now, the first four are going to be played without spectators. Once they have been completed, if they are held at all that is, then they are going to re-assess the situation and decide if they are going to have any spectators going forward.

As long as they can do this safely, I think it is a fantastic idea to get some semblance of sports back in the world. This is the longest the country has gone without sports in quite a long time. With many people at home, either working from home or on some type of unemployment or even home from school and trying to take their classes online, having some form of entertainment is going to be a benefit to many families around the country.

Yes, it’s likely going to be a bit of a blow to income and revenue for the courses that are holding the events. It’s going to be more revenue than they would get if they didn’t have the event at all though.

We have a PGA Tour date to look forward to in June 11th. Time will tell if they are actually able to play. At least we have something to look forward to now.
