No. 10 – Matthew Wolff wins in fourth PGA Tour start
After winning the NCAA Division I individual golf championship while playing for Oklahoma State, Wolff turned pro and was granted some entries into tournaments. It did not take him long to make the most of that opportunity.
Playing in just his fourth PGA Tour event, Wolff won the 3M Open and did so in dramatic fashion. After Bryson DeChambeau eagled the 72nd hole to take a one-shot lead, Wolff did the same, running in a 25-foot putt that proved to be the winning stroke.
Wolff was just 20 years old at the time of his victory and the win immediately made him one of the rising stars on the PGA Tour. While Wolff has not been able to follow up his success with another win, those who are being impatient need to remember that he is still just 21 years old and that he has a ton of good golf still ahead of him.
Wolff will continue to improve as a player and will likely win many more times on tour. But winning in just his fourth event as a professional is a very impressive feat. It’s definitely impressive enough to earn a spot on this list with some of the world’s best players.
