No. 3 – DJ Wins U.S. Open

In 2015, Dustin Johnson had a legitimate shot to win his first major championship at the U.S. Open. However, as golf historians will recall, Johnson came up just short on the 72nd hole. His eagle putt, which would have given him the title, slid three feet past. Then, Johnson missed the birdie putt coming back, handing the title to Jordan Spieth.

When the U.S. Open was next played, Johnson was not going to let anything similar happen. Johnson opened with a 3-under par 67 at Oakmont Country Club, completing his first round on Friday due to rough weather on Thursday. Johnson played his second 18 on Friday and shot a 1-under par 69 and he would hold a one-shot lead over Andrew Landry after 36 holes.

The second round was completed on Saturday morning and the third round was unable to finish Saturday evening. When play was halted, Johnson found himself trailing Shane Lowry by three shots.

On Sunday, Johnson was determined to avenge his mistakes of 2015. Despite trailing Lowry by four shots entering the final round, Johnson would rally. His 1-under par 69 on Sunday was enough to give him a three-shot victory over Jim Furyk and his first major championship.
