Farmers Insurance Open: Tiger Woods at Torrey

13. 2013 Farmers Insurance Open

To say that Woods loves to play at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California would be quite an understatement. Woods has won at Torrey Pines eight times, the last of which, at least for now, came at the 2013 Farmers Insurance Open.

The 2013 win at Torrey was a bit different for Woods, although it was also similar to many of Woods’ other wins in some ways. As usual, Tiger built a huge lead in the tournament and would go on to win. However, weather forced the event to be finished on Monday, which was an unusual occurrence for Woods.

The finish was also not a classic Woods finish. Tiger had an eight-shot advantage with just five holes remaining. But rather than stretching the lead and winning by double digits, Woods struggled to close out the last few holes. While he would still win, it was *only* a four-shot win for the now Hall of Famer.

The win was Woods’ first at Torrey Pines in five years and it remains his last win at the track. Woods earned his 75th PGA Tour win with the victory. The win propelled Woods to his 11th PGA Tour Player of the Year award.
